    The learning support team at the Arab International Academy is here to help! The team consists of learning support specialist and speech-language therapists.  They have both native Arabic and English speakers for all the sessions they provide. The learning support teams works in close collaboration with students, parents, teachers and all involved to develop an individualized education plan (IEP) tailored to meet the needs of each student they service. Their services can be provided by pull out sessions or in class support, depending on what is most beneficial for the student. All this collaboration and support has been aimed to give students increased self-esteem and the best opportunity to be successful in their school and academic careers.

    The qualification and therapeutic process includes prevention, identification, informal assessments, evaluation, development of IEPs, remediation/therapy, and progress monitoring a variety of learning difficulties and speech and language disorders.

    The skilled and experienced learning support specialists come from a dynamic background. They assist students in reading, writing and math. They provide students with the basic building blocks to acquire the skills they need to succeed in their classes. The learning support specialist can help the student fill in missing gaps in their education. This can give the student the necessary pieces of information in order for them to move forward faster. They can also help students with breaking down topics discussed in class to understand it better. The learning support specialists collaborate closely with teachers to accommodate and provide resources for the students. Each plan provided by the learning support team is tailored to fit the needs of each child. 

    The speech-language therapist addresses a student’s difficulty with communication. Our highly qualified and experienced therapists work with children who have communication problems that effects success in classroom activities, literacy, learning, and social interaction. Speech-language therapists work collaboratively with teachers and parents to develop goals and treatment plans, and facilitate communication strategies. Based on the student’s needs, speech sessions are provided in the classroom, in a group setting and/or individually (one on one).
